IDShield offers comprehensive identity monitoring and credit monitoring services for individuals and families. Pricing is higher than some of the competing identity theft companies offering services today, but the value you get in return is exceptional. We like the fact that you get a 30-day free trial, and that all of their plans come with up to $1 million in identity theft protection coverage.

IDShield Plans are unique because they all come with comprehensive identity theft monitoring and protection, the only difference being that you can pay for monitoring of one of your credit reports (TransUnion) or all three. You can also choose a plan for an individual or a family plan that covers up to 10 children. IDShield plans start at $11.95 per month for individuals, or $15.95 per month for monitoring of all three credit reports. If you’re considering a family plan, you’ll pay $24.95 per month or $29.95 per month depending on whether you want one bureau or all three credit bureau reports overseen. All IDShield plans come with incredibly comprehensive benefits that help them stand out against the competition. You may pay more for identity theft monitoring from IDShield, but you’ll get more coverage and monitoring than some competitors offer for a slightly lower monthly rate. Here are the main protective benefits you can expect from your plan from IDShield:

  • Social security number monitoring
  • Dark web monitoring
  • Public records monitoring
  • Court records monitoring
  • Payday loan monitoring
  • Social media scanning
  • Medial data reports
  • Unlimited consultation
  • Access to licensed private investigators
  • Credit score tracking and reporting
  • 24/7 emergency assistance
  • Up to $1 million in identity theft protection coverage
  • Lost wallet support
  • Monitoring of at least one credit report (TransUnion), but potentially all three

The biggest benefit of signing up for identity theft protection is the peace of mind you gain. However, there are some ways to make the most use of your plan, and these include:

  • Rely on identity theft insurance if you’re a victim of fraud. IDShield plans come with up to $1 million in identity theft protection coverage that can help you if you face a covered financial loss due to lost wages, legal fees, unauthorized electronic fund transfers, funds stolen from 401K retirement accounts and more.
  • Use lost wallet support if your wallet is lost or stolen. If someone steals your wallet, IDShield will help you determine if any fraud has occurred. If so, they will assist with helping you restore your identity.
  • Monitor your credit reports and scores. IDShield will help you monitor your credit reports and your scores over time, as well as alert you if a new account in opened in your name.
  • Let IDShield monitor your children’s identities for you. IDShield will also monitor for up to 10 children’s social security numbers and other personal details. While this may seem unnecessary, it’s important to note that children and seniors are some of the most common victims of identity theft, and that children are unusually susceptible since fraudsters see them as an easy target and a way to get a clean slate for more theft.
  • Find out if someone is trying to change your address. IDShield will notify you if it identifies that someone has changed your address on your behalf. Spotting this sign of fraud early on can help you prevent identity theft and financial losses.

Other Benefits All IDShield plans come with an array of benefits that can help protect you if you’re a victim of fraud. However, IDShield does include some unique perks worth noting. These include:

  • Reputation management services, which can help you manage your reputation over time
  • Cyberbullying protection, which can provide you with resources if you or a child are a victim of online bullying
  • Solicitation reduction, which can help you cut down on unsolicited offers for credit cards, loans and other products
  • Public records monitoring, which watches out for 34 different pieces of your personal information to spot signs of fraud early on
  • Data broker deletion, which helps keep your name and personal information off of public websites like Spokeo and Whitepages

Fine Print IDShield plans are free of hidden or fine print for the most part, but there is one important detail you should know about their plans. IDShield says that pre-existing identity theft issues are not covered under the full restoration benefit, so you cannot expect to get this coverage with your plan if you wait to buy it until after you’re a victim of identity theft.

For the highest level of protection, we recommend paying more for monitoring of all three of your credit reports. Before you pull the trigger, however, we suggest spending some time comparing all the top identity monitoring providers on the market today. You may find that one company offers a plan with exactly what you want for an amount you’re willing to pay, but you’ll never know how providers stack up unless you
